Description

Why LeoLabs?

At LeoLabs, we’re building the living map of activity in space. Through our proprietary global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform, we collect millions of measurements daily on more than 25,000 objects in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our radar-powered intelligence protects billions in assets, monitors adversarial behavior, and ensures safe operations for commercial and government missions. We’re not just building technology, we are redefining global security, safety, and transparency in space. As orbital activity accelerates and threats grow more complex, LeoLabs is a trusted partner for Space Domain Awareness, Space Traffic Management, and Satellite Operations for top-tier space operators and allied defense organizations.

If you're looking to work on mission-critical challenges at the forefront of aerospace, national security, and AI, your impact starts here. LeoLabs is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to support strategic growth opportunities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This role serves as a critical technical partner to Business Development, helping customers understand how LeoLabs' Space Domain Awareness capabilities can solve complex operational challenges and support mission objectives.

The Senior Solutions Engineer will lead technical engagement throughout the customer lifecycle – from early opportunity shaping and technical discovery through proposal development, demonstrations, evaluations, contract award, and transition into implementation.

Working closely with Business Development, Engineering, Product, Operations, and customer stakeholders, you will translate customer missions and requirements into compelling technical solutions. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, or commercial space customers and has the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences. Candidates must be located in Spain or Italy to be considered for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Solutions Engineering & Capture

  • Partner with Business Development and Account Executives to shape strategic opportunities across government, defense, civil, and commercial markets.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer missions, operational needs, acquisition requirements, and technical challenges.
  • Develop mission-focused solution approaches that align LeoLabs capabilities with customer objectives.
  • Support capture activities by identifying technical differentiators, competitive advantages, and customer value propositions.
  • Serve as the technical lead throughout opportunity development, ensuring solutions align with customer evaluation criteria and mission priorities.
  • Support customer engagements, technical exchanges, industry events, and executive briefings.

Proposal Development & Procurement Support

  • Lead technical development of proposals, white papers, Statements of Work (SOWs), and responses to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and competitive tenders.
  • Translate customer requirements into clear, compelling technical narratives that communicate LeoLabs' capabilities and mission impact.
  • Coordinate proposal inputs across Engineering, Product, Operations, Security, and leadership teams.
  • Support proposal reviews, compliance checks, and improvements to strengthen technical positioning.
  • Provide technical insight during contract discussions and customer negotiations.

Technical Solutions & Customer Engagement

  • Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops, and presentations tailored to customer missions and operational workflows.
  • Design solutions leveraging LeoLabs' platform, APIs, analytics, and data products.
  • Support proof-of-concept activities, technical evaluations, and customer adoption initiatives.
  • Help customers incorporate Space Domain Awareness insights into operational decision-making.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer engineers, operators, program managers, acquisition teams, and leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Security, and Business Development teams to support customer opportunities.
  • Provide customer feedback and market insights to influence product strategy and roadmap development.
  • Help develop reusable technical content, solution messaging, proposal materials, and customer-facing collateral.
  • Ensure alignment between customer needs, technical solutions, and delivery commitments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Space Systems, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Capture Management, Technical Business Development, Systems Engineering, or Technical Program Management.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, intelligence, or commercial technology customers.
  • Experience supporting competitive procurements, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, Statements of Work, proposal development, and technical evaluations.
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience developing proposals, technical documentation, white papers, or customer-facing technical content.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams to develop complex technical solutions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage technical, operational, acquisition, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to understand customer missions and translate technical capabilities into meaningful operational value.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • This position is intended for candidates located in Spain or Italy; willingness to travel up to 40% throughout Europe and occasionally internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the commercial space, satellite, aerospace, intelligence, or defense sectors.
  • Knowledge of Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Space Situational Awareness (SSA), orbital mechanics, satellite operations, or space mission planning.
  • Experience supporting European Ministries of Defence, NATO organizations, defense primes, or government agencies.
  • Understanding of defense acquisition processes and competitive capture strategies.
  • Experience developing technical proposals for complex government procurements.
  • Familiarity with APIs, cloud technologies, Python, SQL, or modern software architectures.
  • Additional European language skills, particularly Spanish, Italian, French, or German.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within your first year, you will:
  • Become a trusted technical partner supporting strategic EMEA growth opportunities.
  • Lead technical contributions for high-priority government, defense, and commercial proposals.
  • Deliver compelling technical demonstrations and customer engagements that communicate LeoLabs' mission value.
  • Build strong relationships with customer technical, operational, and acquisition stakeholders.
  • Improve proposal quality, technical positioning, and competitive differentiation.
  • Help expand LeoLabs' presence across the European defense and space ecosystem.

What You'll Bring

  • A customer-focused mindset and passion for solving complex technical challenges.
  • Strong consultative skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • The ability to connect technical solutions with customer mission outcomes.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and the evolving space industry.
  • A desire to help shape the future of safe and sustainable space operations.
