Liquid Personnel is recruiting an Adult's Social Worker to join its client’s Mental Wellbeing Service team, based in Southampton
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to work within a specialist Mental Health and Substance Use service, supporting adults to achieve positive outcomes, improve wellbeing, and maintain independence within their communities.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary environment alongside social workers, mental health practitioners, health professionals, and partner agencies to provide person-centred, strengths-based interventions. The role focuses on supporting adults with mental health and substance use needs through assessment, support planning, safeguarding, hospital discharge work, and access to community-based services.
This role requires a confident practitioner with strong knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, mental health services, risk management, and partnership working, alongside a commitment to promoting recovery, independence, and social inclusion.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Supporting adults experiencing mental health and substance use difficulties to access appropriate services, support networks, and community resources.
- Undertaking Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and support planning to identify eligible needs and improve outcomes.
- Working within the Mental Wellbeing Service to provide strengths-based and person-centred interventions that promote independence and recovery.
- Supporting individuals during periods of transition, hospital discharge, and increased mental health need.
- Completing Mental Capacity Assessments and contributing to Best Interest decision-making where required.
- Applying relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Section 117 of the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Undertaking safeguarding enquiries and interventions to protect adults at risk and promote their wellbeing and safety.
- Contributing to risk assessments and risk management planning, ensuring positive risk-taking is balanced with safety and support.
- Working collaboratively with mental health services, health colleagues, carers, voluntary organisations, and partner agencies to coordinate effective support.
- Participating regularly in the duty rota, responding to referrals and urgent situations in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records, assessments, reports, and support plans.
- Attending team meetings, supervision sessions, training, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have;
- Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
- Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
- Experience: Significant post-qualified experience working with adults with mental health and/or substance use needs within Adult Social Care, Mental Health Services, or a related setting.
- Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Section 117 aftercare responsibilities, and Adult Safeguarding legislation.
- Mental Health Experience: Experience supporting adults with complex mental health needs and working within recovery-focused services.
- Assessment Skills: Proven ability to undertake assessments, support planning, reviews, and risk management interventions.
- Multi-Agency Working: Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams and alongside health professionals, carers, and partner organisations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report-writing and case recording.
- Professional Practice: Commitment to strengths-based, person-centred practice, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
