Description

Company Overview

Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across five domains and more than a dozen mission areas. These include airborne ISR, electronic warfare, secure communications, aerial refueling, special air missions, aerial firefighting, and advanced simulation. We own the whole stack: designing, building, and operating turnkey capabilities that give our partners decisive, asymmetric advantage against rapidly evolving threats.

Our operating model is built around three interlocking pillars. The Support Groups provide a global shared-service – spanning people, finance, platform, operations, legal, and engagement. This frees up our Core Groups, who develop and own mission capabilities end-to-end, to focus entirely on delivery. The Market Groups apply a regional lens, ensuring that our agile and adaptable capabilities remain aligned to the wicked problems that matter most to our partners across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.

At the heart of our model is a simple but powerful idea: be a true partner with skin in the game. Our partners need effects, not just equipment. By owning the full stack – from the lab to the field – we are able to drive a continuous cycle of innovation that keeps our partners ahead. It's a fast-moving, intellectually demanding environment where talented people are given real responsibility, work on problems that matter, and contribute to an enterprise that is growing quickly and deliberately.

Headquartered in Washington, DC, with facilities across the United States, the United Kingdom, as well as Continental Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Group Overview

Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO) provides an integrated, end-to-end capability for the rapid modification and fielding of mission-specific aircraft. The Airborne Asset Adaptation (A3) Cell acts as the central command and coordination hub, managing requirements and external interfaces from inception to operational delivery. Specialized technical execution is delivered by the Aircraft Integration Centre (AIC), a Part 145 facility focused on airframe modification, and Aerospace Design (ASD), which provides organic design engineering and FAA-authorized certification. Collectively, these elements bridge the gap between initial requirements and the deployment of flight-certified, mission-ready assets.

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for performing day-to-day avionics and electrical production operations on the hangar floor in a high op-tempo aircraft modification environment. The Avionics Technician performs installation, integration, inspection, functional checkout, and troubleshooting of aircraft avionics and mission systems in support of Metrea’s Part 145 repair station activities, with emphasis on one off and first of type ISR modifications. Responsibilities include fabricating and terminating electrical wire harnesses, routing, securing, and installing aircraft wiring in accordance with approved data and applicable standards, integrating mission equipment, sensors, communications, and associated interfaces, and conducting functional and operational checks to verify system performance. The avionics technician diagnoses discrepancies across aircraft electrical, avionics, and mission-system installations, documents work performed accurately, and coordinates with engineering, quality, and maintenance personnel to ensure all work meets approved technical data, customer requirements, and FAA regulatory and repair-station procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate electrical wire harnesses, including wire preparation, crimping, connector termination, labeling, tie stringing, and continuity testing.
  • Route, secure, clamp, protect, and terminate aircraft, mission system, ethernet and coaxial wiring/cabling in accordance with drawings, wiring diagrams, manufacturer data, and accepted aircraft maintenance practices.
  • Install avionics racks, antennas, sensors, radios, displays, data-recording equipment, mission computers, power-distribution components, and associated aircraft interfaces.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, wire diagrams, installation instructions, schematics, equipment manuals, and other approved or acceptable technical data.
  • Conduct operational and functional checks of installed aircraft and mission systems to verify proper performance, integration, and interface operation.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies involving aircraft electrical systems, avionics equipment, communications, navigation, surveillance, sensor, and mission system installations.
  • Use test equipment such as digital multimeters, insulation testers, continuity testers, power supplies, IFR 4000/6000 and avionics test sets as applicable.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and projects assigned by management.

What You’ll bring

Required

  • Demonstrated experience building, terminating, labeling, and testing aircraft electrical wire harnesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft wiring diagrams, schematics, pinout drawings, installation drawings, engineering orders, and manufacturer maintenance data.
  • Experience installing and integrating avionics equipment, antennas, radios, sensors, mission computers, data systems, or other aircraft installed electronic equipment.
  • Ability to meet applicable physical requirements, including lifting and carrying tools or equipment, standing for extended periods, and performing precise hand work.

Preferred

  • 2 years or more of experience performing aircraft avionics installations.
  • Prior integration experience in military programs or special mission aircraft.
  • Experience on Metrea specific aircraft including: King Air B200/300 series, Bombardier Challenger 605 and Global 6500, and/or Boeing KC-135.
  • Familiarity with Garmin G1000 and Proline Fusion systems.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and FAA DOT drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license.
